What Is Age of Rebellion?
To encapsulate the operatic grandeur of the Star Wars universe, the Star Wars Roleplaying Game is presented in three epic installments. Each of these independent game lines stands alone as a unique gaming experience, but all three share the same core mechanics, meaning they can be integrated to form a single unified system. Star Wars: Age of Rebellion is the second of these installments and takes place during the height of the Rebel Alliance’s struggle against the Galactic Empire.
In Age of Rebellion, you and your friends take the fight to the oppressive Galactic Empire as cunning spies, cocky pilots, and dedicated soldiers in the Rebel Alliance. Each member of the Rebellion has a unique and important part to play in the galaxy-spanning conflict, and as you play Age of Rebellion, your character will leave his mark on the Star Wars universe.
Age of Rebellion relates the experience of a military force united by common goals, and it tracks your character’s individual contributions with unique mechanics for Duty. Your character’s Duty can have a profound effect on how you approach your adventures. You may strive to recruit as many new members to the Alliance as possible, or to sabotage every Imperial operation you come across. Duty helps tell your character’s story and reinforces his unique role in the Rebellion.
Is Age of Rebellion Compatible with My Edge of the Empire Campaign?
Yes. Each installment in the Star Wars Roleplaying Game is fully cross-compatible with the others. While each of these standalone systems offers a unique experience within the Star Wars universe, they all share the same core mechanics, meaning that you can easily transplant characters, careers, specializations, adversaries, equipment, and vehicles from one system into campaigns built with another system.
Can I Play a Jedi in Age of Rebellion?
Age of Rebellion focuses on the struggle between the Rebel Alliance and the Galactic Empire. At the time of the Civil War between these two forces, Darth Vader and Order 66 had driven the Jedi to the brink of extinction. By the time the Rebel Alliance engaged the Death Star, only Obi-Wan Kenobi and Luke Skywalker were known Force-using members of the Alliance.
However, just as the Rebel Alliance survives in the face of overwhelming adversity, so does the Force. Rare individuals throughout the galaxy discover powerful sensitivities within themselves. People such as these must hide their abilities from the watchful eyes of the Empire, and they often find themselves aiding the Rebellion out of a desire to survive. Someone who wishes to play such a character in Age of Rebellion has the option of taking a special out-of-career specialization: the Force-Sensitive Emergent. While this specialization doesn’t allow a character to pursue the full path of the Jedi, it can grant a character access to a new world of possibilities, including Force powers and Force talents that may aid him along his way.
