We had 3 games.. Chris and his German Grenadiers played a US rifle company in a blood bath. Chris finally won out but there weren't many stands left on the table. Mike and his US Mech played a British Cruiser army and left nothing but burning vehicles all over the board. The US won in another close contest. I played my British Armored car squadron against Mikes Italians. The Dice gods were with me as every time Mike made a good tactical move my Armored cars got key kills. My artillery earned several medals for good shooting. Mikes Tankers could hit but not get the kills. We have all had games like that. The light British Force was alot of fun to play but it has its limitations. Thats to all for a fun day.
Several Moscow players have shown interest in our September Tourny. I look forward to there armies on the field.

I had a blast! We need to go down more often, or organize with that group to come up here. It would be nice to fill the back of Merlyn's up with Flames of War players.

The Road trip to Moscow went well. Terry, Mike P. and I went down there and had some great games.

Terry(DeathorGlory) and his light recon armored car unit with some crusader support took on Mike H.(Scary Biscuts) Italian Carri company. Mike your brilliant tactical moves were lost when your dice failed you. Terry's arty gets a medal.

Mike P.(Solanar) and his American Tank Company vs. Tony (zextelmon and store manager at S&P in Moscow, ID) death or glory light British tank unit with armored cars. What an absolute bloodbath. So many burning tanks and sp arty. At least 20+ burning vehicles on the board.

I took on Kevin(Gobek?). I used my Grenadiers vs. his American Infantry. Only vehicle on the table was a engineer supply truck for the Americans. Gone on turn one when they layed a minefield.

US arty failed to dig in on both turn 1 and 2. Americans took limited air and Germans took Priority Me109. German air appeared four times, turn 2 with three planes and destroyed 3 of the 4 US 105's. Then after that only killing a single infantry stand. All with 1 plane flybys. The single infantry stand was his Company CO. The only one available to be hit on turn 7 because he was more than 16" away from my troops. I needed a 6 to range in and rolled it first time. Even made my FP because he was dug in. Unlucky break for his CO. We forgot to roll the warrior save tho, so he may have lived.

The battle with Kevin was bloody and two lucky assaults won First platoon multiple Iron Crosses. They destroyed two reinforced American rifle platoons while taking only 5 stands as losses. The German Mortars and 105's played a huge roll as they continually rained down HE and pinned the US back on their heels. Disrupting their normal fire and defensive fire. Limiting the number of hits on first platoon.

The American Engineers were within striking distance of an objective but German reinforcements finally arrived on Turn 7 and in the right spot as random reserves were in place. The US engineers were destroyed to the man after they themselves had helped in crushing the German Right flank and second platoon. German second platoon also destroyed the US third platoon. As the Germans fell back in assault with over 50% casualties and promptly failed morale. Luckily the US platoon failed morale as well, so after winning the assault, they fled realizing it has cost them so many brave men.

Good battle, closer to a draw than the lopsided victory it looked like with points. Since I won the battle with support platoons left and two infantry platoons at exactly half strength. With mortars and 105's and an HMG platoon sitting back waiting to do something.

All in all, air was worth buying if just for the one successful strike on his arty and the repeated intercepts on his attack planes.

Last battle I faced a Soviet Tank Force and held even, this time I got a few breaks and survived vs. a very tough US infantry opponent.

Tony, thanks for having us. The road trip was great.
