Marvel has been doing some tremendous work lately but underneath the Avengers and Spider-man's, you may be missing some of the best comics yet.

First up is NOVA.
Sam Alexander is a fifteen year-old living in Carefree, Arizona with his father, mother, and little sister. His father is a drunk who often talks about his life as a Nova Centurian, and shirks his duties as janitor at his son's school. While Sam's mother is a homemaker.
It is hinted throughout the series however that Sam's mom knows something about her husband's previous, heroic lifestyle. When Sam comes home from school to find his father missing, Sam accidentally injures himself and wakes up in a hospital. There, he is greeted by Rocket Raccoon and Gamora of the Guardians of the Galaxy, who reveal Sam's father actually was in the Nova Corps.
Nova reads like a Steven Spielburg movie from the 80's. It has heart and a child-like wonderment that, if Marvel doesn't make it into a movie soon, they're really missing something huge.

Next up is SUPERIOR SPIDER-MAN
After the death of Peter Parker at the climax of the "Dying Wish" storyline in Amazing Spider-Man #700, Otto Octavius has implanted his mind into Peter Parker's body and taken over his life, determined to prove himself the "Superior" Spider-Man by being both a better superhero and better at everyday life than Parker ever was.
This book has really pushed some limits on what a hero is and what it means to be one. Even the most vile villain of Spidey's finds it very hard to try and not prove himself.
No more funny quips. No more leaping around while throwing sarcastic remarks.
This Spidey would rather kill you then talk to you because you, well, you're just inferior to him.

SECRET AVENGERS
Like the Avengers movie? Then why aren't you buying this book?
As part of the Marvel NOW! event, a new version of the Secret Avengers is formed under the jurisdiction of S.H.I.E.L.D. A mysterious traveler from the future attacks a battalion of S.H.I.E.L.D. agents before he is killed. Following the attack, Maria Hill decides to form S.H.I.E.L.D.'s version of the Secret Avengers. Maria Hill is able to recruit Hawkeye, Black Widow, Nick Fury, Jr., and Phil Coulson.
YES! THAT Phil Coulson!
Though books tends to lean more towards "comic book" science than real world stuff, but it's a great book to read for those who are looking for a void to fill between movies and the SHIELD tv show.

Finally, THANOS.
SO who was that guy at the end of Avengers?
Was he just that little rotund baddie from Infinity Gauntlet?
Well....he's a little more than that.
He's pretty much the galaxies version of Dexter.
The story then goes back to the birth of Thanos, where Sui-San tries to kill Thanos at first sight. The doctors then sedate his mother at Eternal Mentor's request. During his school years, Thanos has the reputation of the smartest child in school as well as a pacifist, though he kept himself isolated due to his appearance and only played with his brother Eros, though soon enough, a group of children approach him and he becomes friends with them despite his appearance. He was also a talented artist and had recurring nightmares about someone trying to kill him at birth, which is revealed to his mother who appears to be imprisoned in a mental institution.
After that, Thanos begins his quest to find out who he really is, which leads to him impregnating hundreds of beings all over the galaxy, then meeting his true love, who asks him to kill his past lovers AND their children..
which he does.
Thanos kills to feel. He kills because his love commands it.
But.....is his love even real?

So come on down and put these on your list!
And don't forget, all our comics are 10% OFF the cover price!
