"Steampunk miniature ship battles." - What word in that sentence doesn't make you want to buy this game?
We recently got in the core rulebook for Dystopian Wars, along with a small assortment of miniature ships.
An alternate reality Victorian-era global war with sci-fi elements is the setting for this game.
Currently on-hand at Merlyn's are the following vessels (with descriptions liberally sprinkled with information straight out of the book):
1. DWPE02 - Prussian Battleship
While the Prussians are primarily known for having the most powerful land forces in Europe, the Prussian Navy is still very favored by Emperor Frederick. The Emperor Class Battleship (170 pt piece in the game), like most other ships in the Prussian fleet, uses fixed channels for their Tesla coil weapons. Their navy operates under the command of Sire Tannhauser, one of Prussia's greatest military heroes.
2. DWKB02 - Brittania Battleship
The Ruler Class Battleship is the pride of Brittania's navy, commanded by Lord Admiral Joshua Spencer. One particular feature of this model is that it can replace up to two turrets with shield generators for no point difference, allowing for players to fine tune the defensive capabilities of their fleet.
3. DWBS02 - Blazing Sun Battlesip
The Empire of the Blazing Sun use the Sokotsu Class Battleship to spearhead their naval efforts. Yoshiro Nagasumi, the Empire's chief technologist came up with the Sokotsu class design, which audaciously broke away from the usual naval doctrine of ship design. Despite resistance from the Naval Admirality, Nagasumi's favour with the Empress helped his visions become reality.
4. DWFS05 - Carrier
The Federated States of America utilizes the massive Saratoga Class Carrier as a mobile naval base for its fighter planes. This double decker ship carries 6 aeroplanes. Its fore & aft guns have a 90 degree arc of fire that combines both guns.
