Here we are, into our 6th month of DC's New 52 Universe and at Merlyn's we are still
loving this industry-changing direction. There's just so much to love, whether we are talking about the noble experiments soon to be cancelled like O.M.A.C., Static Shock, and Men of War, best-sellers like Batman, Aquaman, Action Comics, or Wonder Woman, or continuing fringe titles like Demon Knights, Justice League Dark, and Animal Man.
Furthermore, by all appearances, the future of this new line seems to full of great ideas and dynamic changes.
Green Arrow #7, arriving in March, will feature the debut of a new writer, an old favorite of mine, Ann Nocenti. Primarily known for writing Daredevil from 1986-1991 and creating the character Longshot, Nocenti ought to bring an interesting viewpoint to this classic DC hero.
Frankenstein, Agent of S.H.A.D.E. will also be getting a new writer as of May in issue #10. Matt Kindt has written some very amazing non-superhero comics that I've absolutely loved, like Revolver and Super-Spy, but superhero fans will know his work in the currently published DC anthology My Greatest Adventure
, in which Kindt writes the adventures of a new version of Robotman. I think he's going to be perfect for Frankenstein.
Wave 2 of the new 52 will be arriving in May to replace the 6 titles being cancelled (including poor OMAC, one of my favorites 😢 ). There appears to be a lot of promise in the wave 2 titles - World's Finest (featuring Power Girl and the Huntress), Earth 2, the Ravagers, Dial H, G.I. Combat, and the return of Batman Incorporated.
Early art from the new Unknown Soldier, as he will appear in the new G.I. Combat series.
In the meantime, though, we thought some of our customers might like another shot at some of the existing hits like Batman and Robin, Flash, and Justice League International. We've put together a few sets of early issues of these and other New 52 series in our front display case in case you missed out on them the first time or if you want to share some great comics love with a friend.
