We are running two Warhammer tourneys in the near future. We have a Warhammer Fantasy Sunday, April 9th, 11am with a noon start. It's $10 with all as prizes. The more players, the more prizes!! We also have a Warhammer 40K tourney Sunday, April 23rd, 11am with a noon start. It's also $10 entry. We will post points and details shortly.

THE TIME IS NEAR!

Well, kind of. April 9th isn't that far off... just three weeks. That's why you all need to start planning your armies for the tournament.

"Plan you say? Psh. I need not PLAN my army! I have my awesome tournament army that I usually use! Oh, and you are incredibly handsome."

Well, I say to you "Yes, you do. Also, yes, I am. Thanks for noticing." Why must you plan? Because this isn't just ANY Fantasy tournament, but a LOW FANTASY tournament. Take a look at White Dwarf 313 if you haven't and take a look at their write up. It's beautiful.

That aside, what all this means is that there will be some VERY specific requirements for your composition, so we should get started looking at them.

As posted, the tournament will be played on April 9th, with a noon start time and a $10 entry fee. You SHOULD show up at 11 to check in a prep, though, as it will allow us to get started on time. Apearance will be scored seperately from your overall score and a seperate prize will be awarded.

Armies should be composed of 1750 points with the usual restrictions on troop types and characters, meaning NO LORDS CHOICES. There are no special characters allowed. Also, their will be some aditional restrictions in place to ensure that all armies comply with the "Low Fantasy" gritty theme.

When compiling your army, you may choose ONE of these 10 restrictions to ignore, in which case you must still comply with the requirement listed after.

1) No more than 2 characters in an army.
IF IGNORED: No more than 3 characters in an army.

2) No character may cost more than 125 points with all equipment, options, magic items and special abilities included.
IF IGNORED: No character may cost more than 150 points with all equipment, options, magic items and special abilities included.

3) No wizards higher than level 1.
IF IGNORED: No wizards higher than level 2.

4) No magic Items over 25 points.
IF IGNOREDL: No magic items over 50 points.

5) No more than one magic item per character or regiment.
IF IGNORED: One character or regiment may have 2 magic items.

6) No more than one Special choice.
IF IGNORED: Up to 2 special choices.

7) No Rare choices.
IF IGNORED: Up to 1 Rare choice.

Cool No more than one war machine or chariot CHOICE.
IF IGNORED: No more than two war machine or chariot choices.

9) No large monsters.
IF IGNORED: Up to one large monster.

10) No flying units.
IF IGNORED: Up to one flying unit.

This should, in theory, limit armies to low fantasy themes. However, in an effort to encourage you to limit yourselves, I will make public the fact that a certain amount of points WILL BE AWARDED to players for army selections made on theme and in the SPIRIT OF THE GAME. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me or post them here. Any glaring oversights in my rules will be corrected ASAP. I will also post a SPECIFIC BREAKDOWN of my scoring system in the next few days, so keep an close eye on the forums.

Have fun and get crunching those numbers!

I have a question about the rule of no large monsters and no rares? I play wood elves and was wondering how a tree man could if at all fit into this composition being a rare unit and large target, though im not sure if it counts as a monster or not.

If you can't fit it into these restrictions, then it cannot be taken. The point of the restrictions is to limit you to a "low fantasy" force. If it cannot fit into the restrictions (and there are a few such as Shaggoths and Treemen) then it is simply too "high fantasy" to be balanced in the tournament and cannot be taken. Hope that helps!
