PostPosted: Thu Mar 07, 2013 8:16 pm    Post subject: ONGOING STAFF PICKS Favorite games/comics

In our ongoing quest to help you, the customer, be able to
find everything that might interest them, we at Merlyns are
creating this post to show you some of the comics and games
we prefer.

That way, if you'd like to know more about the items, you
can ask certain people for more of an expert opinion.

This list is a "so far" list, meaning if something else AMAZING
comes out that we love, we'll post about here.

Does anyone from the staff want to go first? Anyone? Hello?
OK, Well, I guess since I'm creating this, I guess I'll go first.

Chris -
TOP 5 FAVORITE GRAPHIC NOVELS

WOLVERINE: OLD MAN LOGAN
Simply awesome and gory with a hint of Eastwood western thrown in.
It's been years since the "big war" wiped out most all the heroes
and villains. Now, Logan must find a way to pay off Hulk and his
kin before they kill his family.

PARKER BOOKS by Darwyn Cooke
Amazing art. Amazing stories of when men were men
and like to beat each other up for money.

IDENTITY CRISIS
Easily one of the best graphic novels ever written. The best part
about this book is that you don't have to know everything about
all the heroes. This is a detective story and it doesn't hold back.

UNDERWATER WELDER
A fascinating tale of a father and son. Very Twilight Zone.

DAREDEVIL By Mark Waid
I've never been a Daredevil fan but after this book, I was hooked.
Waid writes Daredevil as a real person and it's stopped being
so heavy on the Catholic guilt that used to run through it.

TOP 5 FAVORITE ONGOING SERIES

STAR TREK
Keeps the feel of the reboot movie alive. Well done.

BATMAN INCORPORATED
Bruce Wayne backs "Batmen" from all over the World.

BATGIRL
Simone writes so unbelievably well and is totally in her element
as she writes about Barbara Gordon aka Batgirl.

NEW AVENGERS
Jonathon Hickman writes about the toughest and smartest heroes
in the marvel universe. The Illuminati. The heroes that each hold an
Infinity Gem, one of the most powerful items in the galaxy.

HAWKEYE
Matt Fraction is slowly becoming my favorite writer. These "day in the
life of Hawkeye" stories are IMMENSELY entertaining and the art is
easily worth the price of the book alone.

TOP 5 GAMES

FORTUNE AND GLORY
I'll start off by saying this was the most expensive game I've
ever bought but SO worth it. This has the look and feel of
the Indiana Jones movies and NO game is the same.

RORY STORY CUBES
I have kids and if you do, these little dice are totally fun to
play with. Roll the dice and make a story of the pictures that
come up.

HEROCLIX
Now, I'm sure Kevin will give you a better explaination about
Heroclix and I have to admit, even though I play, I collect a lot
of them simply for the characters as some of the sculpts on these
are awesome!

ZOMBIES!!!
Be the first to get to 'copter!! Shoot zombies and screw up your
friends! A great little party game.

ZOMBIE DICE
A great quick little travel game you can play anywhere with
all ages.
