I am currently building an Aufklarungs Motorcycle Company

HQ contains:

CO with cycle, 2iC with command car or kubel

1st combat platoon will have 6 mg stands, platoon CO and 6 cycles and 1 command/kubel

I am not sure if I will field a second combat platoon, but may opt for armored cars, pz 2's.

I will also field ht AA, motorized Arty 105's and probably priority Me109 Air. This unit will be fast but have very little AT pop.

One of the options is a panzer pioneer platoon. I may field this as it gives me a supply truck, ht's and 9 stands of pioneers with AT 4 and some goliath's.

I could use the pioneers to hold an objective while everything else maneuvers for the win.

My motorcycle squads are built I will prime them tomorrow, my armored cars are built, my ht AA is built, now I just need an opponent during MW. The cavalry is built but needs the rest of the bases done. I will try to finish them tonight. Probably won't get to it.

I doubt I would ever play this list in a tournament, but it was really fun to build. I also am considering using cavalry as a support choice for this unit.

Motorcycles, Cavalry, and lots of speed. Should be very fun to play. Appears to be a very brittle force tho. Will have to play with it to see how it works. May field some Stug d's with it for some hitting power. Not sure yet tho. The arty I am fielding will use pz2 op tanks or I will mount my observers in armored cars.

This list has so many options it makes your head spin. Eventually I will buy and build and paint 20+ 250 HT's and get some 75mm shortgun 8rad armored cars for the unit as well.

Yeah,

but your draw in the tournament sucked. The missions were also tough on infantry forces and were more Tank friendly. That force could have won the tournament easily.

I am not building a tournament force tho. But an historical one. I will also be using it in EW for Poland, the lowlands, France and the Balkans as well as a run into Russia in 1941.

I just now finished priming them black. I will start on base colors tomorrow. Panzer Grey and Feld Grau as well as painting the first three colors of the bases. Dark Brown, Lt. Brown and Camo Beige drybrush.

I will have all 12 stands done by Sunday. I will also finish my pzgren infantry stands as well. I will be using an armored heavy weapons unit with the motorcycles. HMG's, 251/9's and 251/2's. I will try that out and then see if I need to do motorized. I don't have my book handy so am not sure if I use 251/9's or a 250 version for the hvy weapons unit. I will check when I get my book back tomorrow. Hope the 251's are ok.

I will also be using this force to model 1st SS, LSAH in EW. Including Wittman in a 222 armored car as well as a Stug III B/D. The force this unit is based on is the scout company of LSAH with Kurt 'Panzer'Meyer as commander.

It will not be considered SS for points building because it will not be Fearless, this unit retreated lots of times. Because it is a scout unit. If it can grab an objective quickly, great. Or if it can hold for a bit until reinforcements get there, great.

Otherwise, it is not supposed to go toe to toe with a line unit. I will also use it as a scout company for 6th Panzer Division as well.

Looks like a pretty good list for being Historical.

Hey, mine was historical as well. Feb 1942 Tunisia 10th Panzer division supported by the new M14/42 model Italian meium tank from the Centaro Division, which surrendered with 10th panzer by summer.

I have finally been messing with points lists and it is incredible the amount of diversity you can have in this company. I can have anything from motorized pz grens, to aufklarungs in kubels or on motorcycles, to armored pzgrens or pioneers or even panzer pioneers. I can have everything from pz 38's upto and including Panthers and Tigers and Elefants.

This really is the most flexible company I have yet looked at. I will never have all the options available because to do that I need almost every German unit minus straight grenadiers.

Its tought picking out what I want to do. But trying to play historical is the trick. I am working on several historical lists for certain time frames.

I need a next door neighbor that plays.

I actually have talked to all my neighbors and none of them are gamers. Some are in dart leagues, softball leagues and beer and pretzel leagues. A few fantasy leagues here and there as well. As for tabletop miniatures, I am SOL.

I do have one of the Ordofanaticus boys that moved to Post Falls, but he has three young children and a new job in a new town. Our schedules have been crossing repeatedly and we have yet to get to play.

I have been to Spokane 3 times in 4 weeks and have not gotten a game in. When you were down for a couple of days it didn't work out either. Playing Russian Roulette with my back each day is never fun. Especially when it is an automatic and always loaded. The only time I get to play is when a bullet misfires. That is about the real odds.

I have been painting more. I am probably going to try some wacky things with my Aufklarungs Company. Including using cavalry (cossacks as well as German Cavalry or Romanian Allies)

I need more motorcycles and kubelwagens. I have 12 motorcycles/sidecars and 3 kubels and 3 kfz15 and a bunch of HT's and trucks. No 250's yet. My wife put her footdown and said no more miniatures until they are all painted. Can't blame her.

I have a Cossack company, soviet smg platoon, 12 bmw/sidecar combos, 2 88's, a katya and crew, and a load of Soviet stuff that needs finishing. So Winter will be a busy time for me, hopefully by my birthday in May I will have earned the right to buy my next army.
