Masters of the Force, the last miniature set from Wizards, has graciously included all the characters from the chess game played on the Millenium Falcon.

Dejarik, also known as vrax, was a popular game which withstood the test of time better than nearly any other game in the galaxy. It originated as a Jedi game, though, as it became much more widespread over time, many beings became unaware of its origins.

What's even greater is these pieces are BIGGER than the generic size, so big in fact, you could easily put a set together to play the game.

What's even GREATER news is that they are Common and Uncommon, meaning you can get the whole Chess set without chasing down rares.

RULES

Starting position The Dejarik is a two player game where both players confront themselves in a 5 to 10 minutes gameplay. The circular chess have 25 squares. Each player has four pawns black or white.
The chess is divided in three areas :
1) The center (1 square)
Also called the "Dejarik" square, it enables any pawn to cross the chess in two moves only. This square is safe, a pawn placedd on it can't be killed.

2) The inner ring (12 squares)
Combat zone. Any pawn on its squares can be killed.

3) The outer ring (12 squares)
The outer squares are considered like "home". Pawns can't be killed there.
As long as a pawn is on the outer ring or on the central square, it can't be killed.
Squares are side to side, from the left or the right when they are on the same ring and they are front to front if they are on different rings.
To begin agame, each player place his pawns as shown on the picture on the left.
You can play several games, counting the points and deciding when to stop. Wookies used to play until a player reach 12 points, while corellian spacetraders used to play 1 credit (or more) for each point won... sometimes, until one of them ran out of credits.

. Winning 3 points
Each player must line up his 4 pawns on the inner ring and they must be touching each other.
In this case, the white player wins and marks 3 points.

. Winning 2 points
A third way to win is by killing two opponent's pawns.
In this case, the white player wins by klling two black pawns, and marks 2 points.

. Winning 1 point
If you have lost a pawn you can still win by lining up your 3 pawns left on the inner ring.
In this case, the white player wins and marks 1 point.

Repeating movemements - If the same position occurs three times during a game, then either player may declare a draw and they both win 1 point.
IIf all the pawns are blocked, then either player may declare a draw and they both win no point.

There are different ways of moving :
From the outer ring directly to the center (also called the Dejarik square). There must not be a pawn on the path.
Reverse Dejarik
From the center square directly to the outer ring. There must not be a pawn on the path.
Exit
These moves are called exits because the pawns move to the inner ring where they can be killed. From the outer ring to the inner ring. In this way, there are three possibilities :

1) Straight : From an outer square to the inner square in front of it.
2) Diagonal : From an outer square to an inner square left or right. The pawn can move this way only if there is no other pawn on the red square. On the example, the exit is made on the left.
Players can't play diagonal exit on their very fisrt move.
3) Double diagonal : From the outer ring to the inner ring two squares to the left or right. The pawn can move this way only if there is no other pawn on the red squares.
On the example, the exit is made on the left.

Players can't play diagonal exit on their very fisrt move.

Boosting the exit : When exiting in diagonal (single or double), if the pawn arrives in front of another pawn of the same player (on the outer ring) , it must advance two more squares. It is called boosted exit. It can happen many times if the pawn arrives a second time in front of another pawn of the same player.
If boosting two squares is impossible (whatever the reason), the pawn that had to boost don't boost.
Home
From the inner ring to the outer ring front to front.
Note : The "Home" is the only possible move for a pawn on the inner ring.

Killing a pawn
To kill an opponent's pawn, you must exit diagonally in order to place your pawn next to the opponent's. By doing so, theopponent's pawn is killed.
Killing a pawn can also possible when doubling or boosting the diagonal.
note : if you can kill a pawn and boost your move at the same time, your pawn doesn't boost but kills the opponent's pawn.
In this way, your pawn is blocked, because it can't move back and the pawn behind it cant exit.

Remember
There cannot be two pawns on the same square.
Even if there are ways to move a pawn by two squares, a pawn can't jump behind another. so for every more-than-one-square move, there mustn't be a pawn on the path.
Moving to the left or right along the outer ring is always prohibited, and moving left or right along the inner ring may occur only as part of a "boosting diagonal" move
