So, to kick off the Fuzzyreview, I figure I'd start with an old classic recently reworked into a nice package. I'm refering of cource to the nice shiny new Legend of the Five Rings 3rd edition book. Learning the error of their ways from 2nd ed, they have moved back to the rolling both stat+skill, keep stat system. Back are the days of the courtly intriege, and brutal deadly combat with any hit possibly being fatal. Lots of classes have been reworked, many old favorites getting an extra boost.

I recently was able to join into a group and play again, and it has been jsut as fun as I remeber from previous versions. I was even able to blow the dust off my old books as still find use for them. All in all, I like the updates included to bring the storyline up to the current eras, the layout is nice, with good use of pictures. Overall it's just a nice, well done book. Feel free just to bask in its glory when you look at it. Cool

I have to agree with Fuzzy here: the 3rd Edition book is just plain NICE.

The product itself is very high quality, with every rule imaginable covered in a clear, concise manner and still enough room left over for a bounty of background information that can be used both as a player and as a GM looking for an alternative timeline to put your players in.

For those of you who, like me, are longtime L5R fans, the coolest part of this update will likely be the fact that AEG is slowly but surely compiling lists of all the schools released in previous editions with rules updated to be compatible with those found in the new corebook. These school sets are being posted alphabetically on the AEG website ABSOLUTELY FREE. They have thus far released rules for the schools from the Crab, Crane, and Dragon clans. Download them or just check them out at:

Eek, an upcoming L5R LARP book? I think I'll be avoiding River Front Park for a bit. Smile

The L5R larp book has been out for about 2 years or so, so you don't have to worry, I only know one person that bought a copy.

As for the L5R pen and paper I am so happy with the 3rd incarnation, it just rules. I would love to find a game out there somewhere if anyone has any openings. I have played since '95 and have all the old books and are a little behind on the new books, its one of my favorites.

I'll throw my name out there along with Imperial. I only have the 3rd edition book and Way of the Unicorn, but I'd definitly join a game if anyone would take me onboard.
