Merlyn's is hosting a Warhammer 40k Walker Battle on Sunday, July 24th! Lists will be 200 points, and signups will start at 10:00. There will be a $10 entry fee that will be added to the prize pool, which begins at $50. Please be in the store before 10:30 to register.

And now, the rules!

Army List: Each player may spend up to 200 points on a single Elites, Fast Attack or Heavy Support unit.
Only models with the Walker Vehicle type may be fielded.

A number of Codices do not contain any Walkers, so the store will have several units available to borrow.
These will have fixed options and will be extremely limited, see Steve in store if you would like to use one.

Deployment: All players will play on the same board, with randomly determined deployment locations.

Objectives: Kill as many enemy models as possible! 1 Kill point is awarded for each enemy model destroyed.

Special Rules:

Fluid Initiative- At the beginning of each game turn, each player will be dealt an Initiative card at random. The player with the highest Initiative number will move first, then each other player will move in succession. Next the shooting phases will be resolved in Initiative order, then the assault phases.

Entry Points- Models within deployment zones count as obscured

Endless Mechs! Whenever a unit is destroyed, roll for a deployment zone and immediately redeploy the unit. If the selected deployment zone is occupied, use the next unoccupied one. If all the deployment zones are occupied, place your unit 1" outside of the rolled zone and immediatly resolve a shooting attack using a single weapon against the occupying unit. When a unit is redeployed, remove any wrecks or craters created by that unit. Single use upgrades may only be used once during the game, regardless of how many times a unit is deployed.

Abandonment At the end of each game turn, any model suffering from one or more Damaged results on the Vehicle Damage Table may be abandoned. Remove the model as a casualty, it awards a Kill Point to the player who most recently inflicted a Damaged result on it. If a unit is removed in this way, it may be redeployed using the Endless Mechs! rule.

Awards:

Tank Hunter- Most kill points

Feel No Pain- Greatest number of turns without losing a model

Furious Charge- Greatest number of kills in the Assault phase

Relentless- Greatest number of kills in the shooting phase

Preferred Enemy- Best Sportsman (player vote)

Acute Senses- Coolest Walker (player vote)

Most of our general rules still apply:
-Warhammer 40,000 5th Edition Rules will be used.
- Rules and Army Lists marked as ‘Trial’ or ‘Optional’ are not allowed. Unofficial rules sets are not allowed. In addition, the Following are NOT legal for the 40K Tournament:
Armored Company (Any Variation)
- Specific Zone fighting rules will NOT be in effect – Including Jungle Fighting or City Fighting.
- What You See Is What You Get (WYSIWYG). If you wish to use an item, it must be represented on the figure. Each figure must be fitted to the base supplied for the figure in its blister or box. Only Vehicles may be without a base.
- You must bring all materials needed to play including dice, templates, measuring devices, templates, models, calculators, and any rules that you will be using. If the Codex is available for your army you must have it with you at all times. You must also have the latest version of the FAQ for your army, available from the Games Workshop website. Each player should also bring at least 3 objective markers on 40mm bases.
- Each player must provide their opponent during each round a copy of their army list.
- All Tournament missions are considered 'Standard' for Space Marine Drop Pod special rules.
- In order to keep the Tournament running on schedule, when time is called for a round, all players must drop their dice and stop playing – no exceptions. Because of this, please be aware of the time left in the round and do not start a full turn you cannot finish. At a minimum, a 30-minute warning will be called by the Judge.
- Non GW models will be allowed, but they must be appropriate representations of the unit in question. Models and wargear should be modeled in such a way that they are both internally consistent within the army and not confusing to other players. Proxying is NOT allowed. The judge will be the final arbiter of the legality of a model.
- Models in your army must be scaled close to GW's 28mm, or close enough to not affect game play.
- If illegal units or Tournament rules violations are found in a player's list, at a minimum, the models in violation will be removed from all subsequent play. Please check with Tournament judges prior to the event for any questions in advance.
- All rulings by the Tournament judges will be final.

Games, Scoring, and Prizes

- There will be 1 round in the Walker Battle, consisting of one 2.5 hour game.

We will NOT be offering our normal beginner tables during this event, but any players are welcome to participate in the main event and anyone who would like to play a standard game during or after the event can easily be accommodated. At least one Tournament Judge will be available to answer questions all day.

Prizes will be a flat payout because of the potentially unbalanced nature of the event. At minimum, both the highest killpoint player and the longest surviving player will receive the same prize.

So I could use a squadron of 3 armored sentinels - thats a single fast attack unit of the 'walker' type, right?

So, this post says the 24th but the sign in the store said the 19th. Can someone confirm the date for me?
