So you were thinking "I'm not buying this stuff! It's just making money off Alan Moore's work!"
Well, ya....but that's what the World is now, fanboy, so knock it off and read these because so far, they're doing it justice.
Seriously.
These books have amazing talent behind them. Of course they're a grab for money, but DC is also paying a lot to get such talent on board.
Heck, if they didn't care, they'd just have Brian Bendis and Rob Liefeld on them, right?

So.......maybe you...uh....want to change your mind but just aren't sure?
OK, here's a wrap up of same issue #1's.

Before Watchmen: Minutemen
Written and Drawn by: Darwyn Cooke

The first issue introduces each member of Minutemen, and how the team came to be. Artist Darwyn Cooke has always been known for his classic, retro style comic books. The best examples of this is his Justice League story, New Frontier, and his run on The Spirit and fits this book nicely.
So far....
We have seen how a handful of crime fighters start to see that they would make an excellent team. The comic gives great 2-3 page stories about each heroes back story. From Dollar Bill, to Silk Spectre's getting the spotlight. From the tragic story of Ursala - the Avenging Angel to the Hood's shocking display of violence.

Before Watchmen: Silk Spectre
Written by: Darwyn Cooke and Amanda Conner
Drawn by: Amanda Conner

One of the main aspects of the story of Silk Spectre II, Laurie Juspeczyk, is her estranged relationship with her mother, the first Silk Spectre, Sally Jupiter. That story is on full display in this first issue. The story plays out like an R-rated Teen High School chick flick, not holding anything back.
So far....
Sally trains. And trains. And trains. oh, and trains. Her mother never letting her rest, pushing her to the point where one night she sneaks out to meets a boy, a jock, who has his own problems but together he shows her a different side of school and being popular.
Needless to say, it doesn't go well.

Before Watchmen: Comedian
Written by: Brian Azzarello
Drawn by: J.G. Jones

Remember in the movie credits, how they show the Comedian leaving the "grassy knoll"? Well......that may not be how it really played out.
So far...
The majority of the time, we see Eddie Blake, The Comedian, playing ball and chit chatting with The Kennedy family.
Yep.
In fact, it's hard not to mention anything else without giving away most of the plot. Let's just Eddie is like a murderous Forrest Gump, rambling through history.

Before Watchmen: Nite Owl
Written by: J. Michael Straczynski
Drawn by: Andy Kubert

First off, I love J. Michael Straczynski. From The Real Ghostbusters to Babylon 5. In Nite Owl, he doesn't disappoint.
So far...
The first issue tackles how a young kid finds out the secret of one of the cities biggest crime fighters. Even more than that, when he is found out, he's asked to BECOME that crime fighter.

Before Watchmen: Ozymandias
Written by Len Wein
Art by Jae Lee

The story of our favorite villain (or hero), isn't an easy one. Filled with death and triumph, this story sets itself apart from the others as Ozymandias only mentions other heroes. Ozymandias is in his own world. This story reads a lot like the little Robin assassin in Batman.
So far...
Ozymandias finds that he cannot get enough knowledge. Knowledge is power and he wants it all. The story follows him from birth to his decvision to wear a cape.
it's quite a read. Every page is filled with his thoughts and it's a little amusing if you think about how Ozymandias likes to hear how wonderful he really is.

By the way, every issue has a story about THE CURSE OF THE CRIMSON CORSAIR

So far, these books are an excellent read and have that Watchmen feel.
Trust us, come get them now before all the spoilers are all over the Internet.
