Strategy games have long been a great way to push yourself and your friends to think outside the box. Who hasn't played a game of chess? But in the modern age our options aren't limited to just the classics, there are a whole host of other strategy games we can look at to tease our brains in entirely new ways.

If a classic game of chess is fun and exciting to you, but you want to tweak it a little then you should definitely check out The Duke. This game is a great new take on the traditional chess style, but it adds a twist to the old standby of capturing pieces and protecting your king. All of the pieces do different things, but those things change whenever you use the pieces. Adding pieces to the board is another addition. Any way you look at it, even the most savvy chess players will need to think their way to victory. Not that us rookies can't give it a shot as well: It's so intuitive that even I can play it!

Another great option for the thinking man's board game is Netrunner. Based on the original Android: Netrunner this game comes to us from the mind of Richard Garfield, and it doesn't disappoint. Those of you who have played Magic or other similar card games know not to disregard how large a role strategy plays in the game. From deckbuilding to play, strategy is the key to winning. This particular iteration doesn't disappoint, and it's limited format on card printing helps you to be able to get whatever cards you need, because they'll always be in the same boxes. It also solves the problems of dominating strategies making for boring matches by giving both players different objectives.
